Living the dream as a travel photographer

My dream job since traveling abroad in college was to be a travel photographer. Once I lost my job in 2008 with the economic crisis I decided to follow my dream.

I started working as a Nanny to supplement my income while I started my business. In 2010 I took my airline miles from my last job and my savings and sent myself to Paris. I walked the streets of Paris from morning to night capturing the little things that caught my eye. I fell in love with Paris that trip.

I came back from my trip and put my photographs on Etsy and started selling my work. Etsy has given me great exposure. My work has been featured at Pottery Barn,One Kings Lane, Payprus Cards, Real Simple Blog, Apartment Therapy, Harpers Bazaar, HBO Enlightment, The Plaza Hotel in NYC.

In 2013, I decided to give up my apartment in Chicago and follow my dream to live in Paris. I found an apartment in Montmartre and lived there for 3 months. I walked the streets of Paris in the early morning until late at night. Getting lost on the streets of Paris is where I found my favorite images. I experienced Paris in the snow in the winter, pouring rain in the spring, and changing of the leaves in the Autumn.

3 months turned into 3 years of going back and forth between the States and Paris. I just couldn't stay away. I now have an apartment in Chicago where I run my business and blog from. Chicago is where I live but I still consider Paris home.
